I went to the cannery last week and came home with an additional 36 cans of storage items. After unloading (by myself, I might add) my gallon cans of flour, rice, beans, potato flakes, etc., I should have felt more prepared. However, after sharing conversation with all of the volunteer cannery workers, I felt somewhat panicked. Was I really prepared? If I compared myself to the other workers, my pantry was like Mother Hubbard’s. So, I went to the cannery again a couple of days ago and canned peaches. I came home with 36 smaller cans, which seems to prove that I’m working on this preparedness thing. I don’t know why I’m worried. We’re just two senior citizens willing to keep our storage in tact and eat out every night, if necessary.
